Recent advances in veterinary medicine are now available in private practices as never before. Improvements such as in house blood tests, rapid return on referral lab work, digital radiography, ultrasound, and advanced orthopedic equipment make quality medicine available to diagnose and treat patients at the Animal Clinic of Parker.
Laboratory
Blood work, urinalysis, cytology, and fecals are some of the best ways to take a non-invasive look into the body. With in house testing, we can get answers as quickly as 15 minutes. New tests exist for diagnosing viral, protozoal, bacterial, and hormone problems, which can be treated at the same visit. Veterinary reference and University labs widen our diagnostic abilities to provide a full line of testing options with results as soon as one to two days.
Radiology and Ultrasound
Radiology has become an integral part of diagnosing patients in veterinary medicine. X-rays are another way to look into the body without surgery. Having this equipment on site improves our rapid diagnosis of disease.
A board-certified radiologist is available to provide expert interpretation of x-rays or perform diagnostic ultrasound. Abdominal ultrasound can detail the health of internal organs that may be only hinted at by blood work and x-rays. Echocardiography views the function as well as the shape of the heart. This can provide critical information in diagnosing heart conditions and murmurs, leading to more accurate treatment. Early detection of cancer, by x-rays or ultrasound, increases the chances of a cure.
Endoscopy
Many conditions that are difficult to reach or require surgery can be successfully managed with endoscopy. It allows a closer look at internal organs, small foreign body retrieval, and biopsy without major exploratory surgery.
Surgery
The proper equipment makes an job easier and the results more reliable. The latest orthopedic equipment allows us to carefully apply the perfect tension on our Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ligament damage to the knee) repairs, providing early usage and optimum range of motion. Anesthesia monitoring gives the surgeon confidence that the patient is doing well during the procedure. Blood pressure measurements, blood oxygen, electrocardiogram, and respiratory monitors give the anesthesiologist early indication to adjust anesthesia to best alleviate pain while maintaining vital functions. A fully equipped sterile surgery suite with excellent lighting creates the environment for best surgical results.
Stem Cell Therapy
Embryonic cells are able to adapt, repair, and rebuild in situations that are impossible for mature cells to respond. Dr. White is certified to perform stem cell therapy. This cutting edge treatment has been used in arthritis, liver disease, with other areas being researched. The body reserves some stem cells in sites around the body. The most accessible sites are fat deposits. Dr. White harvests these stem cell rich fat deposits, sends them to a special lab to be purified, then injects them back into the animals own body to repair damaged tissues. Encouraging results have been seen from this new emerging therapy.
Dental
The dental equipment in use at the Animal Clinic of Parker is very similar to that which you might see at an advanced human dentistry practice. High speed drills, ultrasonic cleaners, antibiotic gel implants, bonded sealants, oral surgery, digital x-rays, and root canal therapies are employed as needed to maintain optimal oral health for your pet.
Referrals
For specialized surgeries and emergencies, we have an excellent relationship with local board certified surgeons, ophthalmologists, dermatologists, neurologists, cardiologists, and internal medicine veterinary specialists. Hip and knee replacements, cataract surgery, and advanced cancer treatments such as radioisotope thyroid treatment and radiation therapy are some of the other specialties available. Everything from kidney transplants to brain surgeries is made possible with the specialty community available in our area.
